Hectorine Vinyl
Hectorine is the music project of Sarah Gagnon, who named it after her late paternal grandmother. In the folk pop tradition of the 60s and 70s, the songs explore perennial themes of unrequited love, the liminal spaces between dreams and reality, and the power of the moon. The eponymous 2019 debut often features production in this pastoral vein — flutes and autoharp commingle with guitars and synths — but the centerpiece is always Gagnon’s voice: low, dark, and commanding. The self-titled record also features Max Shanley on lead guitar, Hannah Skelton on harmonies and keyboards, and Jason Kick on bass and a variety of other instruments.
